Due to a large volume of ongoing work Our Client ADVANCE STEEL MANUFACTURING PTY LTD ABN - 90 654 329 585 – Located in Salisbury, QLD is seeking a Welder/Metal Fabricator Full-time position for between $72,000 - $75,000 a year.

Job Overview
Our client is looking for experienced Metal Fabricator / Welders who will be responsible for cutting, shaping, assembling, and welding metal parts and structures to produce high-quality components and equipment. This role requires skilled tradespersons with proficiency in interpreting blueprints, operating various fabrication equipment, and performing different welding techniques. You will need to ensure that projects meet rigorous quality and safety standards and adhere to production timeline

Key Responsibilities
• Fabrication and Assembly:
o Cut, bend, shape, and form metal components using various equipment such as saws, shears, press brakes, and rollers.
o Assemble fabricated parts to create structures, frames, or machinery according to blueprints and specifications.
• Welding:
o Perform various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and flux-cored welding, to fuse metal parts accurately and securely.
o Select appropriate welding techniques and equipment based on material type, thickness, and project requirements.
o Ensure that all welds meet high-quality standards with minimal defects, such as cracks or weak points.
• Blueprint and Specification Interpretation:
o Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to accurately complete fabrication tasks.
o Translate measurements and specifications into precise cuts, welds, and assemblies.
• Material Preparation and Finishing:
o Prepare metal surfaces through cleaning, grinding, and sanding to remove impurities and ensure strong welds.
o Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality, making adjustments or refinements as necessary.
• Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
o Operate and maintain fabrication tools and welding equipment, including regular calibration and repairs.
o Conduct routine checks on machines, welding tools, and other shop equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
o Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage, lockout/tag-out procedures, and safe handling of flammable materials.
• Quality Control and Inspection:
o Inspect workpieces and completed projects to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
o Make adjustments to materials or techniques as necessary to meet tolerance and quality requirements.
• Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with other fabrication team members, engineers, and supervisors to achieve project objectives.
o Provide feedback and suggestions to improve processes, efficiency, and product quality.
Qualifications
• Education: Certificate III in Welding/Fabrication AQF equivalency or Technical or trade certification in welding or metal fabrication is required
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a welder and metal fabricator, with extensive knowledge of welding processes and fabrication techniques.
o Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick, and flux-cored welding.
o Strong blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation skills.
o Ability to operate fabrication tools and machinery (e.g. grinders, saws, drill presses, shears, press brakes).
o Knowledge of metals, including steel, aluminium, and stainless steel, and their welding properties.
o Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Certifications:
o Welding certification (AWS or equivalent) preferred or ability to obtain certification as required.
o Forklift certification is a plus.
• Physical Requirements:
o Ability to lift and carry heavy objects using safety mechanisms.
o Capable of standing for extended periods and performing repetitive movements.
o Comfortable working in environments with potential exposure to heat, fumes, and heavy machinery.

Work Environment
• Industrial shop environment with potential exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and welding fumes.
• Regular use of protective equipment, including welding masks, gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.
