Job Description
Role: Experienced Tandoori Chef needed to join our busy kitchen on a full-time basis Salary: $74000 - $78,000 + Superannuation
Duties and Responsibilities of a Tandoori Chef:
1. Prepare and cook a variety of tandoori dishes, including but not limited to tandoori chicken, naan bread, kebabs, and tandoori fish, according to traditional recipes and standards.
2. Marinate meats, seafood, and vegetables for tandoori cooking, ensuring proper flavor infusion and tenderization.
3. Operate and maintain the tandoor oven, including regulating temperature, cleaning, and performing routine maintenance as needed.
4. Ensure that all tandoori dishes are cooked to perfection, with the right balance of flavors, textures, and aromas.
5. Monitor food inventory and assist in ordering tandoori-related ingredients and supplies.
6. Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop and innovate tandoori recipes and menu items.
7. Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
8. Train and supervise kitchen staff in tandoori cooking techniques, safety procedures, and food handling practices.
9. Coordinate with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation and service.
10. Assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed, including food preparation, plating, and dishwashing.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience working as a Tandoori Chef or in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or hotel kitchen.
2. Thorough knowledge of Indian cuisine, particularly tandoori cooking techniques, spices, and flavor profiles.
3. Ability to operate and maintain a tandoor oven effectively, including temperature control and safety protocols.
4. Strong culinary skills, with the ability to prepare and cook tandoori dishes to high standards consistently.
5. Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff and management.
6. Attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences for guests.
7. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
8. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
9. Certification or training in culinary arts or a related field is preferred .
10. Commitment to upholding food safety and sanitation standards, with a focus on cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
