Job Description
We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join our team at the Strawberry Hills Hotel in the vibrant suburb of Surry Hills, Sydney. As Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing all kitchen operations and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This is a full-time role based at our Surry Hills location.
What you'll be doing
Assist the Head Chef in the overall management of the kitchen, including menu planning, budgeting, and inventory control
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficient workflow and high productivity
Lead and train the team of chefs, commis chefs, and kitchen assistants, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards in the kitchen
Develop and refine recipes, incorporating seasonal and locally sourced ingredients
Work closely with the Front of House team to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction
What we're looking for
** Annual Salary of 65,000 - 78,000. **
Minimum of 1 year experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role in a high-volume, fast-paced hospitality environment
Formal culinary training or a relevant qualification in Hospitality or Culinary Arts
Exceptional culinary skills and a deep understanding of a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines
Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and develop a diverse kitchen team
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure
Passion for using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients to create exceptional dining experiences
Thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations
