Position: Cook
Salary: $75,000 to $80,000 + 11.5% superannuation
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full-time

Blu Ginger is an iconic fine dining restaurant located in Canberra serving Indian cuisine and are looking for a full-time chef to work 38 hours per week.
To be considered for the role the candidate will need to have a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and a minimum of 1-2 years’ full-time work experience as a cook preferably in Indian cuisine.

The candidate in mind will be expected to perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:
• Preparing for service and cooking dishes as per the menu and recipes provided.
• Monitoring quality of dishes and portion meals appropriately as per company guidelines.
• Excellent food presentation skills.
• Ability to cater as per cultural and special dietary needs of customers.
• Communicate effectively with floor and other kitchen staff.
• Receive food and store food at ideal temperatures.
• Liaise with managers and other staff regarding food preparation issues.
• Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards, ensuring safe working practise is always adhered to.
• Instruct and train junior kitchen staff.
• Assist chef in ordering food supplies.
• Estimate food requirements as per forecasted usage.
• Ensure suggestions or enquiries by guests are dealt with in accordance with company policies.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking equipment.
• Assist chef in planning menus.
Minimise food wastage Qualifications:
• Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery (Preferred but not mandatory)

Skills and Experience:
• Have a minimum of 1-2 years’ full-time work experience as a cook.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards.
