Job Description
• Perform precision fitting of engineering components in fixed & mobile plant.
• Maintain, test and repair diesel motors and the mechanical parts of heavy equipment such as transmissions, suspension, steering mechanisms and brakes.
• Carry out manual handling of parts, use hand-tool & special tools for precision works
• Carry out scheduled maintenance, which includes oil and filter changes, engine tuning, lubricating mechanical parts, testing the engine, hydraulics, powertrain, brakes, and electrical systems, and ensuring compliance with pollution regulations.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks, Assembly, and Dismantling (Overhauling) of Components like Engines, Hydraulic pumps, transmissions, final drives, etc.
• Read and interpret Engineering drawings, technical specifications and schematics.
• Attend breakdown issues and solve them by following diagnostic procedures as per the repair manual.
• Perform engineering measurements & computations.
• Maintain & repair engine cooling systems and lubrication systems in fixed & mobile plants.
• Test/charge, replace or jump-start batteries, rectify low voltage sensors & circuits.
• Diagnose and test parts with the assistance of computers
• Conduct thorough tests after being repaired for optimum performance.
• Diagnose & repair fieldbus circuits, electronic controlling system
• Repair and replace worn and defective parts, reassemble engine and mechanical components, and refer to service manuals as needed.
• Diagnose, repair & replace diesel engines, including top-end overhaul
• Service exhaust & emission control system.
• Ensure proper usage and maintenance of various measuring equipment, hand tools and special tools in the workshop.
• Update and highlight all major and repeated failures to the Workshop Manager/ Service Supervisor.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure protective clothing is used when required.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and correctly calibrated measuring instruments.
• Complete work safely, ensuring all Safe Work, hazard-free and environmental requirements are met.
• Update and highlight all major and repeated failures to the Workshop Manager/ Service Supervisor.
• Actively engage in professional development to stay informed on new technologies, methods, and industry trends, contributing to continual improvement.
• Ensure good time management is kept on all jobs and work carried out
Qualification & Licences:
• Trade qualification as Cert-III in Engineering (Fixed & mobile plant) is preferred.
• 5 years plus experience in service and maintenance equipment.
• Strong problem-solving/ troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong customer service focus.
• Forklift Licence and Safe Working at Heights (Desirable)
• Current driver’s licence (Desirable)
Skills:
• Have a strong adherence to WHSE and in keeping a safe workplace.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as required.
