Job Description
Position: Rail Signaling Engineer
Salary: $95,000 to $110,000 + 11.5% superannuation
Hours: 38 hours per week
Mode: Full-time
Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Experience Required: Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant role
Role Overview: As a Rail Signaling Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining signaling systems for rail infrastructure projects. You will ensure that signaling systems operate efficiently and comply with all relevant Australian standards and regulations. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to deliver reliable signaling solutions that support safe rail operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and implement rail signaling systems, including both hardware and software components.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and system evaluations for rail signaling projects.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international signaling standards.
• Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and testing of signaling systems.
• Review and assess existing signaling systems for upgrades or improvements.
• Manage and oversee the configuration, integration, and testing of signaling equipment.
• Ensure that all signaling systems meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any signaling-related technical issues during design, construction, and operational phases.
• Prepare documentation including technical reports, risk assessments, and project progress reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• With 3-5 years of experience in rail signaling engineering or a similar role within the transport or infrastructure sector.
• In-depth knowledge of signaling technologies, including both traditional and modern systems.
• Familiarity with Australian signaling standards (AS 7655, ARTC standards) and relevant safety regulations.
• Experience with signaling design software tools (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, RailCAD).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work on complex engineering projects.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of safety and quality.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
