Job Description
Our client, at Chadwick Switchboards in Smithfield NSW, are seeking a full time skilled and motivated Engineering Technologist (Electrical) to join their team in the Switchboard Industry. The role focuses on designing, troubleshooting, and supporting electrical systems, ensuring compliance with standards and delivering innovative solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Chadwick Switchboards is a specialist Australian manufacturer and service provider of low voltage electrical switchboards. Business designs, engineers, fabricates and commissions custom modular and welded switchboards for a wide variety of markets—including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, data centres, healthcare, defence and renewable energy systems. Their product range includes Cubic modular systems, temporary power boards, meter panels, distribution boards, SPD and CT enclosures. With in house drafting, estimation, thermographic studies, maintenance services and accreditation to AS/NZS 61439, Chadwick ensures compliance, safety, reliability and rapid delivery.
Position Overview
This position will focus on supporting the Engineering and Production teams while assisting in the development of technologies behind the design process of switchboards. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and clients to ensure projects adhere to design, safety, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyse Electrical Single Line Diagrams, technical specifications, and project plans to define the scope of work for electrical switchboards and associated switchgear components.
• Liaise with clients, engineers, project managers, and technicians to gather technical requirements and clarify design expectations.
• Work collaboratively with electrical design teams to ensure adherence to AS/NZS 61439 and AS/NZS 3000 standards, particularly for low-voltage switchgear and control assemblies.
• Develop initial system drawings using design platforms such as Streamgineer and AutoCAD, ensuring alignment with project specifications and electrical schematics.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design or operational issues by interpreting and generating electrical diagrams, offering alternative design approaches as needed.
• Produce technical estimates and documentation based on software-generated designs in accordance with project needs and initial system plans.
• Support the customization of design tools to ensure technical specifications are accurately addressed by the engineering team.
• Contribute to product innovation by proposing enhancements to switchboard design, functionality, and quality in line with customer expectations
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology or a related field.
• Minimum three year of experience in Switchboard Industry with a strong understanding of the processes involved in the design, production, and operation of switchboards.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Streamgineer, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards such as AS/NZS 61439 and AS/NZS 3000 associated with design and production of switchboards and related products.
• Proficiency in producing technical documentation.
• Ability in identifying opportunities for technological innovation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
