Job Opportunity

We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Painting Trade Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, reliability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes. This role demands workmanship that upholds the job quality and reputation of FSCI.

Key Responsibilities

Blueprint Reading & Surface Examination: Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the necessary work.
Site Preparation: Build scaffolding, cover fixtures, and prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, and removing old paint.
Surface Preparation: Fill cracks and holes with appropriate materials such as plaster.
Paint Mixing & Application: Mix, match, and apply paints and finishes to various surfaces, including providing decorative and faux finishes as needed.
Efficient Planning & Execution: Handle planning and prep work efficiently, paint surfaces with various tools, and apply varnish and other finishes.
Cost Calculation & Negotiation: Calculate costs, negotiate prices, and take all health and safety precautions.
Material Calculation & Fixture Removal: Calculate materials and time required, remove fixtures such as doorknobs and light switch covers, and tape off areas as needed.
Supply Management: Choose and purchase paint, brushes, and other supplies from vendors.
Job Quoting & Cleanup: Quote and negotiate job prices, clean up supplies, and replace fixtures upon project completion.
Client Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with clients.
Requirements

Colour Theory & Finish Types: Understanding of colour theory and various finish types (training may be provided).
Physical Capability: Ability to climb ladders, carry heavy equipment (painting tools and paint buckets), and stand for long periods.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a strong ability to follow directions.
Communication & Customer Service: Excellent communication skills and good customer service skills to assist clients in choosing the right materials.
Math Skills: Good math skills for calculating surfaces and equipment requirements.
Physical Dexterity: Outstanding physical dexterity and a strong sense of creativity.
Safety Awareness: Attentive to detail and always alert to ensure safety.
Trade Qualification: Successful completion of trade qualification is required.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience.
