Global Vision Recruitment on Behalf of D Kalsi Pty Ltd T/A Waikerie Curry House & Pizza Bar

Position: Chef
Salary: $75,000 plus 11.5% super
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full time
Location: 14 Peake Terrace, Waikerie SA 5330
Experience required: Minimum 2 years’ experience in relevant roles.

Waikerie Curry House is a renowned Indian restaurant committed to delivering an authentic culinary experience. We take pride in our diverse menu, which features a variety of traditional Indian dishes prepared with the freshest ingredients. We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our dynamic team

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Develop, plan, and update the menu to offer a diverse and authentic selection of Indian dishes, including entrees, mains, sides, and desserts.
• Create new recipes and continuously improve existing ones to ensure high-quality dishes.
• Prepare and cook a wide range of Indian dishes, ensuring the highest standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene.
• Ensure dishes are cooked to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene.
• Monitor the quality of ingredients and dishes, ensuring they meet the restaurant’s recipes and standards.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations, managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring the availability of necessary ingredients and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including cooks, and kitchen hands.
• Train new kitchen staff and provide ongoing training to ensure the team maintains high standards of food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Utilize freezing and preserving techniques to extend the shelf life of ingredients and prepared dishes.
• Manage food costs and work within budget constraints to maximize profitability.
• Collaborate with the manager, kitchen and waiting staff to address food preparation issues and ensure menu items meet dietary requirements and customer expectations.
• Occasionally interact with customers to gather feedback on the menu and service, addressing any special dietary needs or preferences to ensure a positive dining experience.

Qualifications:
• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent. (Preferred but not mandatory)

Other Requirements:
• At least 2 years of experience as a chef.
• Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, inventory management, and food safety standards.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
