Position: Technical Sales Engineer (Engineering Technologist)
Salary: $95,000 plus 11.5% super
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full time
Location: 29A, Northpark Drive, Somerton 3062 VIC
Experience required: Minimum 2 years’ experience in relevant roles.

Position Summary:
The Technical Sales Engineer (Engineering Technologist) will play a pivotal role in designing, customising, and delivering technical solutions for caravans, campers, and mobile living units. This position combines applied engineering expertise with customer-facing responsibilities to support the delivery of high-quality, tailored recreational vehicle (RV) solutions.
Tasks and Responsibilities included but not limited to:
• Collaborate with clients to assess their technical requirements for custom caravan or camper builds, modifications, and accessory installations.
• Apply mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering principles to design solutions that enhance vehicle performance, safety, comfort, and compliance.
• Use CAD and other specialised engineering software to model modifications, conversions, and layout alterations for RVs.
• Conduct technical assessments including load distribution, material strength, mounting integrity, and compliance with Australian Design Rules (ADR) and vehicle safety standards.
• Prepare technical drawings and detailed specifications for custom components including cabinetry, structural reinforcements, solar systems, plumbing, and electrical upgrades.
• Advise clients and internal teams on suitable materials and design approaches that balance durability, aesthetics, weight, and cost.
• Liaise with suppliers and fabricators to ensure materials and components meet engineering specifications.
• Oversee engineering project timelines, quality assurance, and documentation through CRM and project management tools.
• Provide technical input into sales processes, including assisting with quoting, product demonstrations, and explaining engineering features.
• Conduct product and system testing post-installation to verify engineering functionality and customer satisfaction.
• Deliver technical training sessions to internal teams and customers on equipment operation, system care, and safety compliance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of engineering innovations in the RV industry, and contribute ideas for product improvements or new service offerings.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Structural, or similar field).
Skills and Other Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a technical, design, or engineering role.
• Prior experience in vehicle modifications, custom design, or related technical fields preferred.
• Strong understanding of materials, structural design, electrical systems, and fabrication techniques.
• Experience using CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to compliance and safety standards.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
