Job Description
We require an Engineering Technologist to support and enhance our operations by delivering practical engineering solutions in structural steel and reinforcement works.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Provide technical support to fabrication and construction teams to ensure accurate and defect-free production of structural steel components and reinforcement systems.

● Interpret and review engineering and shop drawings prepared by designers, providing input and feedback to ensure feasibility and alignment with project specifications.

● Work closely with designers, detailers, and schedulers to ensure coordinated and constructible structural steel and reinforcement plans. Basic knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla) is beneficial for reviewing drawings, communicating with design teams, and understanding project documentation.

● Assist in the preparation and review of Bar Bending Schedules (BBS), cutting lists, and material take-offs (MTO) in collaboration with the drafting and planning teams.

● Participate in site inspections and assessments to ensure that installation aligns with engineering intent and industry standards.

● Conduct feasibility checks and provide recommendations for adjustments in design or execution to improve constructability and compliance.

● Liaise with cross-functional teams including engineers, project managers, welders, and fabricators to resolve technical issues on-site.

● Oversee and support QA/QC processes, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards (AS3600, AS4100, AS/NZS 5131, AS/NZS 4671) and project specifications.

● Contribute to the evaluation of materials and assist with testing procedures related to structural strength, weld quality, and durability.

● Ensure work practices comply with WHS regulations and site safety procedures.

● Skilled in MIG and Arc welding, providing hands-on support when required and supervising welding processes to ensure structural integrity.

Appropriate candidate must have the following skills, education and experience:

Graduation in Engineering: Bachelor's of Engineering
Australian Experience: Minimum 3+ years of relevant Australian experience
Overseas Experience: Minimum 3+ years of relevant overseas experience
Specialist: Engineering Technologist (Structural/Steel Focus)
Work Rights: Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Full Work Rights Holder
