Position: Computer Network and Systems Engineer
Salary: $80,000 to $85,000 Plus 11.5% Superannuation
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full time
Location: 8 Grose Street, North Parramatta, NSW 2150
Experience required: 2-3 years plus experience in a relevant role

We are an established business in the HR and Labour Hire Support area. We provide holistic services to our clients around labour management and planning and time keeping along with a host of functions in this field. Our ability to manage data effectively and to logistically manage multiple rosters across multiple sites as well as cost and date analysis and the storage of sensitive and confidential information is part of our strength and service offering.

We are seeking a competent Computer Network and Systems Engineer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience to both maintain and develop these tasks and to provide a greater level of service to our client base.

The candidate in mind will be expected to perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:
• Design and plan the structure, architecture, and layout of computer networks.
• Determine the network requirements, such as bandwidth, security, and scalability, and select the appropriate hardware and software components to meet those requirements.
• Install and configure network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining implemented Network performance, reliability, and security.
• Perform regular network upgrades, patches, and backups and troubleshoot network issues, identify bottlenecks, or network congestion, and resolve connectivity or performance problems.
• Ensure the security of the network. Implement and enforce security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls, to protect the network from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.
• Currency on the latest security technologies and trends to proactively address potential vulnerabilities.
• Responsible for optimising performance of the network.
• Analyse network traffic patterns, monitor bandwidth utilization, and identify areas for improvement.
• Implement Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms to prioritise network traffic and ensure that critical applications receive sufficient bandwidth and low latency.
• Document network configurations, changes, and procedures.
• Create network diagrams, maintain an inventory of network devices and software licenses.
• Develop standard operating procedures and prepare reports on network performance, security incidents, and recommend improvements or upgrades.
• Liaise with system administrators, database administrators, and software developers, to ensure seamless integration and interoperability between different systems. Work closely with vendors and service providers to procure network equipment, resolve technical issues, or negotiate service contracts.
• Research new networking technologies, protocols, and products to assess their potential benefits and applicability to the organization.
• Pilot projects to evaluate the feasibility and performance of new network solutions.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience.
• Strong individual contributor and team player.
• Highly effective in managing and understanding Computer Network and Systems role.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Take initiative in developing and improving systems and procedures.
• Strong conceptual, analytical, and interpretive skills with high level of attention to detail.
