Position: Bar Manager
Salary: $76,500
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full-Time
Location: 425-427 Little Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years’ experience in relevant role
Located in the heart of Melbourne CBD and spread over two floors, The Irish Times Pub offers a warm, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere. The ambience – genuine Irish style wrap-around bars, traditional dark wood interiors, cosy fireplaces, beautiful stained-glass windows, and rugby memorabilia’s, is reminiscent of classic pubs in Ireland.
Responsibilities:
• Plan, direct and coordinate bar operations across two levels to deliver an authentic Irish pub experience.
• Lead recruitment, training, and supervision of bar staff to uphold high standards of Irish hospitality.
• Monitor and manage inventory of beers, spirits, and specialty Irish beverages in line with customer demand.
• Ensure full compliance with liquor licensing, RSA regulations, and health and safety standards.
• Develop and implement service procedures that reflect the traditional ambience and cultural identity of the venue.
• Oversee customer service delivery and resolve escalated complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Coordinate with marketing and events teams to support live music, rugby match screenings, and private functions.
• Maintain budgeting and financial control through effective cash handling and daily POS reconciliation.
• Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts for premium beverage and bar supplies.
• Ensure bar presentation, décor, and service align with the classic Irish pub theme and enhance patron experience.
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:
• Minimum 2 years of proven experience in a supervisory or managerial bar role.
• Strong knowledge of liquor licensing laws and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) compliance.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills in a high-paced hospitality environment.
• Ability to deliver outstanding customer service aligned with traditional Irish pub values.
• Proficiency in stock control, budgeting, and POS systems.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Familiarity with organising live events and coordinating bar service for large functions.
