Job Description
Position: Diesel mechanic
Salary: $73,150 to $85,000 + 11.5% superannuation
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full-time
Location: 73 Pipe Rd Laverton North VIC 3026
Experience required: Minimum 1 years’ experience in relevant roles.
The candidate in mind will be expected to perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines and associated components.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, and other mechanical parts to inspect and assess condition.
• Repair or replace damaged or worn-out parts and reassemble engines and mechanical systems, ensuring all components meet the manufacturer’s specifications and standards.
• Perform regular maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups, to keep vehicles running efficiently and comply with environmental regulations.
• Reassemble engines and mechanical components after repairs and adjustments.
• Conduct testing and fine-tune mechanical parts to ensure they are performing at optimal levels after repairs.
• Use diagnostic tools and computer systems to detect faults and test the functionality of parts.
• In some cases, inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or identify necessary repairs to achieve compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Respond to emergency vehicle breakdowns and conduct on-site repairs as needed.
Qualifications:
• Certificate III or IV in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology or equivalent
Skills and Experience:
• Proven experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of diesel engine repair, diagnostics, and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work with computer diagnostic tools to identify and fix mechanical faults.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
