We are currently seeking a dynamic, creative, and career-driven Chef to join our growing kitchen team.
As a fully qualified Chef, you will report directly to the Head Chef and assist with the smooth daily operations of the kitchen. You will contribute creatively to menu development while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead daily food preparation and ensure dishes are prepared to specification, maintaining Espresso ETC’s high-quality standards in both presentation and taste.
• Oversee and support the kitchen brigade in the smooth execution of breakfast, brunch, and lunch service.
• Innovate and contribute to seasonal menu updates that reflect customer preferences, dietary needs, and market trends.
• Maintain strong knowledge of current food trends and apply creative flair in crafting new recipes and specials.
• Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health and safety standards, including cleanliness, hygiene, and HACCP procedures.
• Supervise food inventory levels, place accurate orders, and minimise wastage through effective stock rotation and portion control.
• Handle equipment maintenance and liaise with management to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
• Take responsibility for staff rostering, performance supervision, and on-the-job training of junior kitchen members.
• Promote a positive kitchen culture by leading by example and fostering teamwork, respect, and accountability.
• Collaborate with the café management team to ensure consistency in service, guest satisfaction, and cost control.
• Maintain accurate documentation for compliance, including kitchen logs, temperature checks, and food safety audits.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
• Relevant qualifications in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or IV required).
• Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP principles.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to work well under pressure.
• Passion for locally sourced, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients.
• Flexibility to work across weekdays, weekends, public holidays, and split shifts.
