Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Chef to join our café team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to our menu, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene. You will work closely with other kitchen staff to deliver a delightful dining experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation: Set up workstations with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment. Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and preparing sauces.
Cooking: Cook food items according to recipes and menu specifications. Use various cooking techniques and equipment, such as grills, ovens, and fryers, to prepare meals.
Quality Control: Check food while cooking to ensure it is cooked properly and meets quality standards. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Presentation: Ensure that dishes are presented attractively before serving. Dress plates with garnishes and sauces to enhance visual appeal.
Sanitation: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen. Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and place orders for supplies when necessary. Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team members to ensure smooth service. Communicate effectively to coordinate orders and special requests.
Customer Service: Occasionally interact with customers to take special orders or address dietary restrictions and preferences.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a café or similar setting.
Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Diploma/Certificate or equivalent; culinary school training is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry heavy items, such as bulk ingredients and kitchen equipment.
Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
